Understanding the purpose of it...
Humans all have a weakness and fear of something. Wether its of simple things, like not getting into the school of their dreams or of heights and cramped up spaces. Or the more reasonable and understandable ones like of dying, pain, and the suffering of others. Which many seem not to care about anymore. Fear is what makes the good things in life seem better, and makes it worth all that pain....
